Chia seeds were considered a miraculous food in the ancient civilizations of the Aztecs and Mayans. They have many health benefits, and are, for example, different from other seeds in that they contain 5 times more iron than milk, they have a higher content of B-vitamins, and are a powerful anti-oxidant.  Chia seeds contain a balanced ratio of omega-3 and 6 fatty acids and thanks to their high fiber content, also help maintain a feeling of fullness longer, which aides in weight loss.

  • Why substitute stevia for sugar?

stevia

Stevia is an all-natural sweetener without any kind of negative side effects, in contrast to artificial sweeteners.  Stevia is a plant native to Paraguay, which has been used there for centuries by natives and is 300 times sweeter than sugar.  It doesn’t contain any calories and is suitable for people with diabetes.  Stevia, unlike sugar, has a positive effect on one’s metabolism and reduces cravings for sweets.  A number of other health benefits have been ascribed to stevia, for example that it stabilizes blood pressure and improves glucose levels.
